About

A small studio making objects slowly.

KVN works from Pray, Montana. Objects are drawn, cut, and finished by hand, in runs small enough to hold every piece before it leaves.

Belief

Function creates beauty.

Fewer things, made better. Craft over speed. Restraint over excess. An object should age with the person who carries it, and it should be repairable when it does.

Materials

Honest materials, chosen for touch.

LeatherVegetable-tanned, pit-tanned where possible
WoodAmerican white oak, walnut
MetalSolid and brushed brass — never plated
TextileGerman wool felt, vintage silk
ThreadWaxed linen
Care

Marks are not damage.

Keep leather dry and carry it daily. Dust with a soft cloth; a neutral cream once a year is enough. Oil wood when it looks thirsty. Brass will darken — leave it, or polish it.

Objects come back to the studio for repair, for the life of the object. That is the point of making them this way.
